The Top Bed and Breakfast in South Dakota. Why stay at a hotel, when you can experience the Black Hills in a more romantic and fabulous way?
The Black Hills offers many lodging options. What is your preference?
Would you rather experience the ruggedness of the outdoors by camping in our fabulous wilderness, or, stay at a plusher Resort? How about a Cabin in the Black Hills?
All of these are great options, but for Romance we like the Bed and Breakfasts that South Dakota hospitality offers!
Here are the locals, and fellow travelers' favorite top pics!
This one gets some of the best reviews out of them all!
Coyote Blues in nestled in the pine trees, right in the thick of the Black Hills National Forest, just off of HWY 385.
Coyote Blues offers something very unique to our area. They actually have 7 different "themed" suites. One is decorated in the Mediteranean Theme, one in a Turkish theme, a Celtic, Swiss and Lakota, and then the African theme. The Euporean Antique themed rooms are also popular. *Note that the less expensive rooms, the Pine View Rooms, are a lot smaller. Some folks have grumbled a bit about this. If you like your space, keep this in mind when booking. Also note that cell phone service does not work here (or many other parts of the Hills for that matter) Coyote Blues offers free long distance calls off their landlines to accommodate guests. FYI.
The Propietors are from Switzerland. They moved to the Black Hills to fulfill a life long dream of owning a Bed and Breakfast here. We are glad they did!
Attention to detail is said to be found throughout the grounds (30 acres) the home, the guest rooms, the common rooms and the service.
All themed rooms are spacious and can offer the following amenities, depending on the room you choose:
The Owners are said to be wonderful and very hospitable! They serve a legendary Swiss "no need for lunch" breakfast every morning at 8:30 in the dining room. Many a guest rave about this breakfast, and the fact that they really can, and do, skip lunch!
Prices range between $60 to $165 per night, depending on the season and the room. They offer weekly rates, and have better rates for staying more then one night too.
Audrie's slogan is, "Where the honeymoon starts all over again"...ahhh sigh..
And many local folks will agree with that statement too!
This place fills up, and fills up fast all times of the year, so book this one in advance! Fair warning!
Audrie's Bed and Breakfast is located in the Black hills of South Dakota off off Rimrock Hwy (AKA Hwy 44 West) about 10 miles outside of Rapid City. It is nestled back on the most beautiful little Rd called Thunderhead Falls Rd.
I like this one especially because you can have you own little piece of Heaven for a night, or two, in your own private little log cabin in the Black Hills. I mean really, how awesome is THAT??
With only a 10 minute drive back to Rapid City in one direction, or a 15 minute picturesque drive in the other direction to get to Hwy 385 junction, you are perfectly located!
The only drawback at all to this place? If you are traveling with kids, no kids are allowed here. Not that they are down on kids, it's just that this place is set up for adults to reconnect. You get the picture, right?! Coyote Blues is set up differently and they love kids, so keep this in mind when you are booking a B and B!
Some of the amenities you can find at Audries' Das Abend Hans Cottages (they differ a bit depending on the cottage you rent):
If you are after some romance, some peace and quiet and some good old fashioned tranquility, then book a night or two here. Gain some slower paced, well deserved sanity back...ahhhh...
Get your pocketbook out tho, romance doesn't come cheap! But then again, you are not just renting a room, you are renting a whole cabin all to yourself, probably with a river running thru it. I digress, got lost trout fishing in the back yard there, sorry!
Prices run $185 to $210 a night for the cabins/Haus rental. ENJOY!!
