Black Hills Area Events
Part 2 (Miss part 1? Click here)

Black Hills area events will help you plan your trip, or make your planned trip more spectacular by soaking up some local color!

There are many local favorite things to do around here all year long. But these are the biggest and the best the Hills area offers!

Days of 76 Rodeo and Parade
July 22nd - 26th 2014

This is a Black Hills premier event that has taken place for over 80 years. This is one of the TOP Rodeos in the Country, and has the awards to back that up! It has won the PRCA small outdoor rodeo of the year, and the PRCA midsize rodeo straight running every year since 2004. They have a parade too. This year the parade will be on Friday and Saturday. 74th Annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally
August 4th - 10th 2014

Hands down, without a doubt, the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally is the BIGGEST, FUNNEST Black Hills area event of the year!

If your not into crowds and busy roadways, plan your trip some other week then this one! This week will bring in approximately 1/2 MILLION fun loving folks into the hills, for
1 solid week of party fun.

Read all about the fun times to be had here!

Holy Terror Days
Sept. 6th and 7th  2014

Keystone SD annual event. Parades, races, food, games and fun!

Carrie Ingalls (Laura Ingalls Wilder's sister) lived in Keystone most of her adult life. She took care of Mary after Ma died here too.

I haven't seen the "official" line up for this year, but you never know....maybe we will see a Little House on the Prairie cast return! Keep your fingers crossed!

Black Hills Area Events Buffalo

Buffalo Round Up
FRIDAY Sept. 26th 2014

Another favorite Black Hills Event! The round up has about 10,000 people attend it each year. Big crowd pleaser, no doubt about it!

This year the round up will be on a Friday, instead of a Monday and events will continue on thru the weekend.

In addition to the round up and branding weekend activities include an arts festival with loads of vendors, and the super fun chilli cook off.

The round up itself is on Friday, but the vendors and the chilli and dutch oven cook offs are over the following Saturday and Sunday.

NO entrance fee is required on the day of the buffalo round up!

Held at Custer State Park.

Pow Wow
October 11th-13th 2013

This event is open to the public, and brings in many people from all over the surrounding States.

Dancing competitions, Art shows, scholarship pageants and archery tournaments are just a few of the events to be found during the Pow Wow.

Hundreds of dancers and singers come in from all over the surrounding areas to compete.

No date announced as of 1-21-2014 for the 2014 Pow Wow, but it is usually around the same time each year.

Held at the Rapid City Civic Center.
