- Days of 76 Museum This museum just got a brand new building in 2012, and it is awesome! The days of 76' was created to remember the founders of the City which started in 1876. Every summer they have a Days of 76 Parade with actors playing the notable characters from the area, as well as rodeos. It is a large area event. The Museum houses a whole lower level floor full of old carriages, old time outfits, a gun collection, stuffed mounts, Native American artifacts, Days of 76 rodeo memorabilia and loads of information about the history of the area.
- Adams museum (FREE!) There are 3 floors of information, authentic props, memorabilia, and strange oddities. This is a great Museum to visit, and we love the price! While you are there make sure to see the original Thoene stone, the gold nugget replicas and the one of a kind, only one in the world dinosaur bone in the basement, the Pahasapasaurus. Plenty of history is found about the area here too, and lots of old pictures of the cities notorious and favorite characters. There is a donation box at the door if you wish to donate.
- Mt Moriah Cemetery (FREE to $1 per person, depending on the season) is the graveyard where Wild Bill Hickok, Calamity Jane, Seth Bullock, Preacher Smith and Poker Alice are all buried.
There are many original headstones still left. Some headstones have had to be replaced over the years due to weather, vandalism etc.
The cemetery is laid out in 4 different "sections". The section for the Chinatown residents, the Jewish section, the mass grave site and the children's section. Many children died from small pox and typhus and they had a section devoted just to them.
Seth Bullock is buried at the very tippy top of the cemetery, beyond the main cemetery and that is quite a workout! If you make that extra hike, you will be rewarded with fantastic views of the city tho! When you leave the cemetery make a left on the gravel road, it is much easier going then if you go straight up the little forest trail that lies straight ahead. This is a self guided tour so be sure to grab a map at the office. If it is hot out make sure to take water with you, we have made the mistake of not, thinking it would be just a short hike. It isn't, and it is all uphill, so take your water with, because nobody will volunteer to run back to the car to get it!

- Midnight Star
Casino is owned by the famous movie star Kevin Costner. This casino has 4
levels to it. The first level offers slot machines and an OLD beautiful
bar that they serve the drinks from. Second floor is the gaming tables.
Third floor houses the lovely restaurant Diamond Lil's. All thru the
Midnight Star you will find old movie posters, but the best is all the
movie clothes and memorabilia the Kevin Costner wore in his various hit
movies. You are encouraged to walk all 3 floors and look around.
- Jakes Restaurant is on the 4th floor of the Midnight Star and it is one of the only 5 star restaurants
in all of South Dakota. They are only open Thursday thru Sunday so call
ahead for a reservation (especially in summer months) if you want to
get in. The most expensive food item on the menu is the Filet Mignon at
$35, Duck is $29. salads run $6-$10. If you like Creme bru'le, make sure
to save room for it, because they have the best around!
- Saloon No 10 Deadwood
likes to joke that they are the only Museum in the world to have a bar
in it! This is really a neat place to visit and relax. Take your time to
look all around this famous Saloon, you will find old miners equipment,
stuffed animal mounts, old time pictures of Wild Bill and Calamity Jane
and all the others, and the legendary "chair".
will find the "chair" above the door when you walk in, it is mounted in
a box up at the top. This is reportedly the chair that Wild Bill Hickok
was sitting in when he was shot there by Jack McCall.
