We get serious about our fireworks in South Dakota, so we have put together a list of fireworks this 4th of July. Hope you can make it to some if you are visiting our area!
Mt Rushmore used to put on a awesome fireworks display, but sadly, it is now a thing of the past.
The good news is, that if you are celebrating Independence Day with us, you can still see some live fireworks, in various locations thru out the Hills. We have compiled the list of all the free fireworks shows our area has to offer.

July 5th from 5:00 to 10:00 PM
Lots of fun activities planned for the whole family, starting at 4:00 with fishing for the kids. No license required, and from 5-7 PM all the fish the kids catch will be weighed and measured for awesome prizes! Thanks to Scheels, there is great fishing equipment to be given away.
Kids under 18 can fish, but prizes awarded to 13 and under age groups.
Hayrides from 5:00 - 8:00
Bouncy House from 5:00 - 8:00
Live DJ from 5:00- 10:00
Hamburger and Brats will be available to purchase from 5:00 - 8:00
The free fireworks show starts at dusk (around 9:30) on July 5th.
Everybody is welcome (you DON'T have to be a member!) and you get all of this for only a $5.00 Parking fee!!

4th of July Fireworks!
They put on a fabulous free fireworks show every year! If you are camping in Custer State Park, or close by, then this is the show for you to catch!
July 4th at dusk (around 9:00 - 9:30) on Pageant Hill.
Here is the whole line up for Custer over Independence Day.
July 3-5: Old Time Country 4th Celebration – Downtown Custer
From eating contests to live entertainment and games and prizes at the Children’s Fair, you will keep busy with all that Custer has to offer during the 4th of July weekend. For more information, visit www.custersd.com.
July 3-5: Old Time Country Fair (Arts & Crafts) – 1881 Courthouse Museum in Custer
Vendors will line the streets at the 1881 Courthouse Museum, providing food and entertainment for visitors and locals alike.
July 4: Patriots’ Parade – Downtown Custer
Active and retired military and first responders from around the Hills participate in the Patriots’ Parade on July 4th. Parade begins at 10 AM and ends with a flag raising at Way Park at 11 AM.
July 4: Custer Fireworks – Pageant Hill in Custer
Your only chance to see fireworks in the Southern Hills is on Pageant Hill in Custer, SD! Enjoy all the games and festivities during the day and end your evening on Pageant Hill for a beautiful fireworks display!
July 5: Firefall Concert on Pageant Hill in Custer
“You Should See the Stars from here” Concert kicks off this year with Firefall!
Firefall! A classic rock group from Boulder, CO known for such hits as "You are the Woman," "Just Remember I Love You," and "Strange Way." General Admission $20; children ten and under FREE with paid adult admission. Food, drink, and merchandise available! Doors open at 5 p.m.! Enjoy the races, then stick around for the Fireworks show! July 4th is the date for it this year. Fireworks display is after the races are all done, can be late. You can see the fireworks from the roadways close by too.

The city puts on a fireworks display, this year it is on the 4th of July! Best viewing is the Mammoth site's parking lot, get there early! Starts at dusk.

So I already said NO fireworks here, but will mention again. In case you got all excited. I know. I am sorry.
It is a good spot for me to mention a few of the festivities that Mt Rushmore will be putting on for the Independence Day holiday tho.
On July 3rd and 4th they will have lots of various special activities you will want to check out.
World Champion Hoop Dancer Jasmine Pickner will be performing, and teaching the Hoop dance.
Sequoia Crosswhite will play the flute, and portray Native Stories.
All 4 Presidents will be portrayed by reenactors, and will be signing autographs and answering questions.
EAFB Honor Guards will perform a Flag Folding Ceremony, and a band will play nightly around 6:00PM.
The Lighting Ceremony is at 9:00 PM as usual.

Main Street Square
A Main Street Square partaaay is planned here on July 4th from 2:00 to 8:00 PM
This is always family oriented, and there is always fun things for kids to do! This year they will have magic shows, bouncy inflatables, games and such.
For the teens they will have the rock wall and a video game trailer.
Spectacular performance, as always, provided by the Air Force Academy Band.

Another popping party place for the 4th of July!
Head on up on the 4th of July, at 1:04 PM and you can witness a BIG BLAST on the mountain!This does not happen often!
On July 2nd, starting at 5:00 admission is FREE! shortly after 5:00 you can see Native Dancers perform, and at 6:30 the USAF Band, Falconaires, will rock you out with their jazz music.
Stick around for the Lighting Ceremony at dark, taking your time to stroll thru the complex beforehand.
